In brief, I have a master's in music composition, 8 semesters of college level private piano lessons, and have played piano for over 20 years. I have taught piano lessons for 2 years and have 6 years experience teaching music in various paid capacities. To hear me play piano, please head to my Facebook page.

I started piano lessons at age 6. By age 10, I was done with piano forever! My teacher had me playing only lesson book and contest pieces. I would spend an entire year perfecting every minute detail of 2-3 pieces I did not like. This led to a lot of frustration.

I quit piano for a year until my parents found a new teacher who let me try lots of genres of music and who didn't focus only on pieces in a lesson book. She nurtured my joy for music to the point that it is now a lifelong passion and pass time.

In 2015, I began a music composition degree at Oklahoma Baptist University. During this time I took 4 years of private piano lessons. I worked as a music theory, aural skills, and music technology tutor for 3 years. I took a course on piano pedagogy from former OMTA president, Dr. Michael Dean. In 2018-2019, I wrote an orchestral work "Scenes in Purple," which won a performance in Concerto Aria.

After college, I took a gap year to marry my incredible wife Hannah!

In 2020, I began a masters degree in music composition at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. I earned this degree with the intent of teaching freshmen and sophomore level college classes. During this time I taught music theory and aural skills as both a graduate assistant and a substitute teacher. I continued to compose primarily for piano. I played piano in graduate student recitals. I graduated with a 3.99 GPA in May of 2022.

In May of 2023, I started teaching piano to a friend. In July of 2023, I formed Reel Music Studio OKC and have been teaching since then. Pictured to the right, see some of my students and I at our first recital!
